Types of Transmissions

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)

A continuously variable transmission (CVT) draws top engine power from a small engine.  This gives drivers quicker acceleration when compared to the automatic transmission.  Because this type of transmission can better control the engine speed range, they typically produce fewer emissions.  The continuously variable transmission offers improved fuel economy and overall vehicle efficiency.  This type of transmission will need regular inspections and fluid changes.   These transmission maintenance services can be performed by our certified technicians at Victorville Hyundai.

Automatic Transmission

The automatic transmission is a self shifting transmission.  Meaning, it doesn't require the driver to shift gears as they drive.  An automatic transmission uses sensors to determine when to shift gears and uses internal oil pressure to change them.  The transmission is a vital piece of your car.  It is the component that increases torque when pulling away from a stop and helps prevent the engine from working too hard at highway speeds.  The automatic transmission will need regular inspections and fluid changes.  These transmission maintenance services can be performed by our certified technicians at Victorville Hyundai.

Manual Transmission

The manual transmission is also known as a manual gearbox transmission, stick shift, standard transmission, or just stick.  There is a smaller percentage of cars that are now offered as manual transmissions as they are no longer seen as the most efficient form of transmission to have in a vehicle.  The fun in the manual transmission is that it allows the driver to choose the different gear ratios to drive the car.  The lower gear ratio allows for more torque, but less speed.  The higher gear ratios allow for higher speed, but less torque.  The manual transmission will need regular inspections and fluid changes.  These transmission maintenance services can be performed by our certified technicians at Victorville Hyundai.

Transmission Flushes

Every 30,000 miles or typically around 2 years, it is recommended that you get your transmission serviced.  There are however some other signs to lookout for.  If your transmission is grinding or making other unusual sounds, this typically means you need to have your transmission fluid flushed.  A fluid flush will force all of the old fluid under pressure out and run a cleaning agent through your system.  This is the closest that you can get to resetting your transmission to factory new.

When having your transmission serviced at Victorville Hyundai, you are working with certified, highly trained technicians.  In addition to your transmission flush, our technicians will perform a full inspection and recommend any other services that need to be performed.   Call us or schedule your appointment online today so that it can be taken care of.
